I’m a senior economics and policy reporter with Barron’s Magazine in Washington, D.C.

I’ve covered economics, policy and politics in Washington since 2015. My current work at Barron’s is focused on the Federal Reserve, federal economic policy and the myriad ways the Covid-19 pandemic has changed—and continues to affect—the U.S. economy. I’ve been here since late 2021.

My goal in this job is foremost to make the opaque and ever-changing economy a little more accessible for the folks who don’t track its every turn, in part by finding the offbeat stories and quirky characters who bring it to life. It’s a broad beat because nearly everything, I’d argue, is ultimately about the money.

Before this I was with Politico for more than five years, covering trade policy during the trade-war years of Donald Trump’s presidency; unemployment during the Covid shutdowns; and the 2020 presidential campaign during the fraught and historic transition between Presidents Trump and Biden. Once Biden was elected, I began covering his sweeping economic policy agenda and his quest to transform the role of government in public life.

So there’s been a lot to write about.

My writing on the labor market in 2022 was recognized by SABEW’s Best in Business Awards in the economics category. I regularly share my reporting on TV and radio, and have appeared on CBS News, CNBC, BBC and Fox Business Network, among others, to discuss my work.

Some of that work is featured here. Feel free to get in touch for more — if you’ve made it this far, I’d love to hear from you.
